The first mixed-race leader of North America confronts the most challenging agenda since Franklin Roosevelt became president in the middle of the Great Depression. Barack Obama will have to give the state a greater economic role, raise taxes, increase public spending, and adopt a comprehensive policy of redistribution–all of which will highlight the gap between the poor and the wealthy–but the United States, under a Democratic administration led by Obama, has remarkable potential to recover. The investment should be steered toward the modernization of infrastructure rather than toward anything that reeks of market speculation, however.

Emerging Company of the Year

Sundial Creations, Amityville, NY
From the curbs of 125th Street in Harlem to the shelves of Macy’s, JC Penney, and Target stores nationwide, New York-based fragrance and body products company Sundial Creations’(www.sundialbrands.com) story is one of circumstance and hope. Founders Richelieu Dennis, 38, and Nyema Tubman, 40, found themselves stumped after college. Unable to return to their home country of Liberia because of a civil war, the two roommates sought solace in family memories.
Recalling the help he gave his grandmother in making scented soaps for sale while growing up, and recognizing a Void left by mainstream manufacturers in meeting the skincare needs of minorities, Dennis reinvented the recipes for a new customer. He and Tubman then sold the soaps as sidewalk vendors in Harlem. “People became attached to the quality of the products we were selling,” Dennis recalls, “And this was in the ’90s when natural and organic products were not the buzzwords they are today.” Shortly after, in 1992, Sundial Creations was born. The company develops, manufactures, and distributes the Nubian Heritage and SheaMoisture, lines of organic skin and hair care products and the company has grown from its flagship store in Brooklyn, New York, to six locations in New York City. Dennis serves as CEO, while Tubman functions as president. Revenues for the company totaled approximately $10 million in 2007.
“Whether it’s foresight, luck, or hustling, says partner and chief marketing officer Emmet Dennis, “we’ve done some really great things since recognizing our opportunity to expand.”
But despite major retail deals and $16 million in projected sales for 2008, co-founder Dennis believes it’s best to continue taking both their setbacks and successes in stride. He says. “You have to lean on all the things that brought you here in the first place.”

Innovator of the year

Robin Wilson Home, New York, NY
Robin Wilson Home (www.robinwilsonhome.com)strives to ensure that renovation projects are completed on schedule, according to the client’s specifications, and at the agreed cost, in an industry of inflated estimates, unpredictable construction schedules, and very little means of holding contractors accountable, the New York-based construction management and interior design firm has etched a niche for itself by creating software to clean up the construction process.
“As project manager, I need to make sure that you are in control of your plans, your time, and your budget,” says CEO Robin Wilson, who launched the company in 2000.
Wilson stems from a long line of real estate industry professionals, four grandfather strong, and spent the summers watching her grandfather manage renovation projects on his properties. “In coming from a family of entrepreneurs, I Knew all about the ups and downs and was taught to focus on not just this generation, but the future,” says Wilson who fused her forward-thinking attitude with her love of design.
The firm also specializes in eco-friendly concept design and interior decor for office buildings, hotels, residences, and spas. Earlier this year, Wilson launched The Nest Store (www.theneststore.com), offering the same eco-friendly design solutions that characterize her commercial projects, including furniture and bedding, among other products.
In June, Robin Wilson Home won the Make Mine a Million & Business competition, sponsored by micro loan provider Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence and OPEN from American Express’ small business arm, designed to help women-owned companies grow.
With so much progress and so many projects in the pipeline for Robin Wilson Home, Wilson and her team have yet to slow down, which is fine by her. “We’re a solid team that believes in a mission of keeping homes healthy and beautiful,” Wilson says. “Everyone here is dedicated to watching and being a part of the growth.”

Rising Star Award
It was love at first sight, From the tall dark top to the sleek casing of heavy grade European glass on a domed bottom, Mist H2O captured the hearts of audiences at the 2008 Berkeley Springs international Water Tasting event to win the gold medal for Packaging and design.
Lucid Enterprises (www.misth2o.com). the Atlanta-based company that produces Mist H2O, is in the business of making water sexy. Ironically, its 34-year-old owner and CEO, Derick Halliman, (who designed the bottle himself) once made fun of his friends who drank bottled water. Not anymore.
“Why would you pay for water?” Halliman says he wondered back in 1996. “So I researched it and found out that this was an emerginig Industry.”
The next year, he used $10,000 in savings to launch the company, And with Tennessee’s English Mountain Springs as his source, revenues have been steadily moving upward.
Last year, Lucid Enterprise’s revenues were $820,000 and as thirstily as he fought to bring his dream to fruition, Halliman anticipates surpassing the $1 million mark for 2008, Long-term goals include becoming a multi-beverage manufacturer and distribution company, as well as taking the company public. “This is just a launching pad for us,” he says. “we’re looking to soar to new heights and break ground in reaching the next level.”

Teenpreneur Award
Passive Devices, Denver, CO
Four years ago Kristyn Heath asked her father for help finding a device than one friend at a time, without the hassle of lending an earbud. “At first my dad didn’t get it,” Heath recalls. “Adults don’t really share music.”
The now 18-year-old college freshman says she expected to find a product addressing her needs on the internet. “I thought, with so much technology around, there’s got to be something like this already on the market.” she says. “But there wasn’t.”
Today, Denver-based Passive Devices distributes the NoeString Attached portable music-sharing device under the brand Snoop Tunes (where users can “snoop” in on peers’ sounds). For 2007, revenues were $30,000, and revenues are expected to near $100,000 by year-end.
“We used to carry around boom boxes when I was in high school,” says her father, Allen. “But once I started seeing this as essentially the same idea of sharing music with your friends but with different technology and less noise, I saw there was a market for it.”
The eider Heath, CEO of a software development and consulting his family how electronic devices communicate with one another. And unlike the typical teenager, Kristyn paid attention.
She remembers thinking: “If we have a radio that can broadcast to people, why couldn’t I have my personal radio broadcast to others also?”

• Diccionario de datos: son documentos normativos que particularizan las especificaciones técnicas y conceptuales a nivel objeto espacial.
• Metadatos: describen el origen y la historia de los datos y la formación espacial, ya sean mapas digitales, datos de tipo vectorial, raster o tabulares. Sus propósitos son – ubicar, evaluar, extraer y usar la información.
• Sistema geodésico nacional: es el conjunto de conceptos como tecnologías, instrumentos científicos, recursos informáticos, materiales y humanos; ocupados para definir la forma y dimensiones del globo terrestre o de parte de el mismo con fines de georeferenciacion.

Ortofotos por que puedes ver todo desde arriba por medio de fotos satelitales.

4) Después de las dos presentaciones del INEGI, ¿cuáles son tus conclusiones y recomendaciones?
Que deberían de hacer una campaña más grande para que toda la población conozca los servicios que tiene el INEGI ya que son poco conocidos además que serian de gran utilidad para muchas personas.
